As a special event supported by the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, China Aid 2010 ---“The Fifth China International Exhibition of Rehabilitation, Nursing & Healthcare for Elderly and Disabled People” opens at INTEX Shanghai on May 17-19, 2010.
China Aid is the first national-lever professional assistive devices’ trade show with 10 years’ success experience. Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China, China Disabled Person’s Federation, and Shanghai municipal government paid close attention to this event. Many leading members of the concerned departments have attended China Aid and made speeches.
Since the 1990’s, Chinese Old Age Insurance System has to face serious pressure. The trend of raising aging population and empty nest family caused by the population aging is significant. China has 15.3 millions elderly over 60 years old. It is predicted that consumption scale of the elderly will be 4.3 trillions Yuan in 2020 and 13 trillions Yuan in 2030. As China economic center, Shanghai is modernization city which the ratio of the elderly is 19.58% and the average national ratio is only 7%. It indicated that Shanghai has been in the rank of aging society. How to provide the old-age care service became the problems for government and society.
China has 8.3 millions disabled people. China Central government raised the slogan of rehabilitation service for all disabled and assistive devices’ service is the important part of this goal. With the improvement in people's living standard and the aging, the society paid more attention on the elderly. More barrier free design is required and market potential is enormous. Market demand and government functional departments are actively promoting barrier-free industries’ development.
Expo 2010 Shanghai China opens the window to the whole world. China Aid 2010 has interactive relationship with Expo 2010 Shanghai China (Life and Sunshine Hall, the first hall designed for the elderly and disabled people). As an event of this nature, the show organizers have designed special on-site services to care for the elderly and disabled people. China Aid 2010 focuses on the theme of Respect, Love and Harmony for the disabled, the elderly, and people who need rehabilitation services in general and the show organizers hope to build communication platform for related industries.
China Aid 2010 is larger in scale compared to the previous events with an exhibiting space of 6000 ㎡. Hundred of renowned companies from Germany, USA, Britain, France, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Singapore, Japan, China mainland and the Taiwan providence will showcase their wide range of products and new technology during the three days of the show.
The show offers an extensive fringe program quality enriched by content. The forum on “the Development of Rehabilitation Instrument, Accessible Life and the Work for Persons with Disabilities” will see industrial experts to sit together and discuss various hot topics. As the part of 2010 Shanghai Digital Week for the Elderly, the Help-Age Technology Activities are presented at the show demonstrating innovative technologies, elderly arts and governmental investment projects. Help-Age Technology activities are the important project of Shanghai government and will provide a platform for the elderly people to understand new technology and its application. At the same time, it will also help officials and designers to communicate with end users. There are many barrier-free facilities on-site, including transportation, family, and information. An volunteer service is provided on-site.
