What’s the village like now? Are Mom and Dad living comfortably? Shanghai rural elderly-friendly renovation cases are now being collected
To implement the deployment in the ’15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Civil Affairs in Shanghai’ on intensifying elderly-friendly renovation efforts and improving the rural elderly care service network, and to systematically review the elderly-friendly renovation practices that have been implemented and achieved tangible results in rural areas of this city, as well as to identify a batch of project cases that fit the characteristics of rural life and can be replicated and promoted, it is hereby decided to launch the collection of rural elderly-friendly renovation cases in Shanghai.
I. Collection Objectives
Relevant units and project teams involved in rural elderly-friendly renovation in this city are invited to publicly submit practical cases that have been completed and put into use. The focus is on reflecting the real renovation results, service value, and promotion significance of the projects. Proposals that remain only at the conceptual, planning, or paper design stage and have not yet been implemented will not be accepted.

III. Solicitation Targets
Relevant units in this city involved in the construction, design, construction, product configuration, and operation services of rural elderly-friendly renovation projects, including elderly care service institutions, design and decoration enterprises, elderly-friendly product and rehabilitation assistive device enterprises, smart elderly care enterprises, social organizations, village collective economic organizations, community and elderly care service facility operation units, universities and research institutions, etc., are all eligible to apply. Multi-party joint applications involving design, construction, products, and operations are encouraged; for joint applications, a leading unit should be clearly designated.
IV. Solicitation Scope
The submitted cases should be located in rural or agriculture-related areas of Shanghai, have completed renovation, and demonstrated actual usage effectiveness, including but not limited to the following types:
❶Renovation of the living environment of rural elderly families for elderly-friendliness, including bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens, entrances and exits, indoor passage, safety protection, etc.;
❷Age-friendly renovation of elderly care facilities such as rural elder care homes, rural demonstration neighborhood points, village-level elderly care service stations, and elderly meal service venues;
❸Age-friendly and barrier-free renovation of village public spaces, courtyards, roads, ramps, public restrooms, rest areas, lighting, and signage systems;
❹Comprehensive application projects combining age-friendly products, rehabilitation aids, smart devices, and spatial renovation;
❺Other age-friendly renovation projects that, based on rural realities, are representative in terms of low-cost renovation, utilization of existing spaces, application of local materials, and sustainable operation.
V. Application Conditions
❶ Authenticity.The project genuinely exists, the relevant renovation work has been completed and put into use, and the application materials objectively reflect the implementation process and actual results.
❷ Applicability.Full consideration is given to the living habits, physical conditions, family structures, and rural spatial characteristics of elderly people in rural areas, effectively addressing practical pain points.
❸ Safety.The project complies with building, fire protection, electrical, accessibility, and related product usage requirements, and no major safety liability accidents directly related to project quality have occurred in the past three years.
❹ Exemplary nature.The project demonstrates distinctive features in space optimization, product configuration, service integration, cost control, and operation and maintenance, and holds value for replication and promotion.
❺ Compliance.The applicant holds legal usage rights to all submitted text, images, drawings, videos, and other materials, and has obtained necessary authorization from the project owner, user, or relevant parties.
VI. Application Materials
Create a separate folder for each case, named as “Applicant Unit—Project Name”, and submit the following materials:
❶ Case Application Form(click Read Original to download). It includes basic information such as the applicant unit, project name, project address, project type, completion time, participating units, contact person and contact information.
❷ Written Case Introduction. The word count should generally not exceed 1,000 words, focusing on the project background, the needs of the elderly, the main problems before renovation, renovation ideas, implementation content, capital investment, operation and maintenance, actual results, and promotion value.
❸ Case Display Board. It should be designed by the applicant unit based on the project situation. It is recommended to use a vertical format of 180 mm × 270 mm, in JPG format, with a resolution of no less than 150 dpi. The display content should include a project introduction, before-and-after comparison of the renovation, key floor plans or node diagrams, core practices, and actual results.
❹ Project Drawing Files. Submit main floor plans, elevations, node diagrams, circulation diagrams, etc., that reflect the renovation features, in PDF format; if no relevant drawings are available, schematic diagrams that clearly illustrate the renovation content may be submitted.
❺ Project Image Materials. Including photos before renovation, construction process photos, actual photos after renovation, and on-site images that correspond to design drawings and renderings, all compiled into PDF format with brief captions.
❻ Other Supplementary Materials. User feedback, third-party evaluations, media coverage, award certificates, or other materials that demonstrate project effectiveness may be voluntarily submitted.
VII. Submission Method and Deadline
Applicants should submit before17:00 on September 11, 2026Complete the online application and compress the complete application materials into a ZIP file, then send it to marketing@shaid.org.cn. The subject line should be uniformly named as “Rural Elderly-Friendly Renovation Case Collection – Applicant Unit – Project Name”. If the same unit applies for multiple cases, separate folders should be created for each.

VIII. Other Matters
1.This activity is for case collection and industry achievement promotion. No awards will be given, no rankings will be made, and no application fees will be charged.
2.The applicant unit shall be responsible for the authenticity, accuracy, and legality of the materials. If there is false declaration, infringement, or any other non-compliant situation, the organizer has the right to terminate its participation qualification.
3.The organizer may use the submitted materials for public welfare publicity, case compilation, exhibitions, industry training, and related exchange activities, provided that the case and the submitting organization are credited. If the information involves privacy or is not suitable for public disclosure, the submitting organization should provide a written explanation when submitting.
